about
This began as an improvisation on tenor ukulele. Its wistful, wandering tune reminded me of Tove Jansson’s footloose loner from her Moomin books. Restless and private joy, etched with the mystery of impermanence – he ups sticks and is off down the road at the first whiff of attachment.
Icelandic folk songs sung with restraint and affection - plus, he feeds a goat kid with a milk bottle while dedicating the album to his grandmother. This is beautiful music tenderly delivered. Martin Messent
It may sound superficially like a retro late Coltrane sound-alike trip, but this band is deep - and a genuine jazz harp player! Awesome tunes and beautifully recorded. Martin Messent
Mark's played keyboards on my stuff for donkey's years and this is his first solo piano outing - it's a languorous, ECM inspired trip. Listen late at night in one sitting. Martin Messent
